4. COPPA — Children's Online Privacy Protection
4.1 No Collection from Children Under 13
Squawk Aviation Photos does not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. Our Service is not directed at children under 13, and registration by persons under 13 is strictly prohibited.
If we learn or have reason to suspect that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as reasonably possible and terminate the associated account.
4.2 Parental Rights
In accordance with COPPA, if you are the parent or legal guardian of a child under 13 and believe your child has provided personal information to us without your consent, you have the right to:
- Review any personal information collected from your child;
- Request that we delete your child's personal information;

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address listed in Section 14. We may ask you to provide proof of identity and your relationship to the child before processing any request.
4.3 Users Aged 13–17
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By allowing a minor to use the Service, the parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf and accepts responsibility for the minor's use of the Service.
We encourage parents and guardians to monitor the online activities of minors and to educate them about safe, responsible online conduct.
4.4 Information We Collect and How We Use It
For users of all ages, the personal information we collect is limited to what is necessary to provide the Service (e.g., email address for account creation and password recovery, display name, and submitted photographs). Each account is personal and non-transferable. You may not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your account to another party.
6. Photo Submissions & Content
6.1 Your Content
When you submit photographs or other content ("User Content") to Squawk Aviation Photos, you retain ownership of any intellectual property rights that you hold in that content. However, by submitting content you grant Squawk Aviation Photos a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, modify (for display purposes only), and distribute your content in connection with operating and improving the Service.
6.2 Representations and Warranties
By submitting content you represent and warrant that:
- You are the original photographer or hold all necessary rights to the content;
- The content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other proprietary right of any party;
- The content was taken legally and in compliance with all applicable laws, including aviation security regulations;
- The content does not depict anything that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable;
- You have obtained any required consents from identifiable individuals appearing in the photographs.
6.3 Screening and Acceptance
All submitted photographs are subject to review by our screening team before publication. We reserve the right to accept, reject, or remove any content at our sole discretion without any obligation to explain our decision. Rejection does not constitute a finding of copyright infringement or any other legal violation.
6.4 Removal of Content
You may request removal of your submitted content at any time by contacting us. We will make reasonable efforts to remove the content, though residual copies may persist in caches or backups for a period of time. We also reserve the right to remove any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
7. Intellectual Property
The Squawk Aviation Photos name, logo, website design, software, and all content created by us (excluding User Content) are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any of our intellectual property without our express prior written consent.
The collection, compilation, and arrangement of all content on the Service, including the aircraft database and metadata, constitutes a copyrightable work and is the exclusive property of Squawk Aviation Photos. Scraping, harvesting, or automated extraction of data from the Service is strictly prohibited.
If you believe that any content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us with a notice containing the details required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). We will investigate all legitimate claims and, where appropriate, remove the infringing content.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree that you will not:
- Submit photographs taken in violation of any law, airport security regulation, or restricted-area rule;
- Upload content that you did not photograph yourself or do not have the right to share;
- Submit photographs containing personally identifiable information about individuals without their consent;
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users;
- Post spam, unsolicited advertising, or off-topic content in the forum;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or another user's account;
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or collect data from the Service;
- Submit false, misleading, or fabricated aircraft metadata;
- Manipulate, alter, or falsify photographs in a way that misrepresents the subject;
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent;
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, removal of your content, and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement authorities.
9. Content Screening
Squawk Aviation Photos operates a volunteer and staff screening program to maintain the quality and safety of the photo database. Screeners review submissions against our published acceptance criteria. Screening decisions are final and are made at the sole discretion of our team.
Screeners are bound by a separate set of guidelines and are prohibited from accepting or rejecting content on the basis of any protected characteristic, personal relationship with the submitter, or any other improper basis.
We do not guarantee any particular publication timeline. Photos may remain in the screening queue for a period of time before a decision is made.
10. Termination
We may suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Grounds for termination include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, third parties, or the Service, or requests from law enforcement or government authorities.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon account closure, your published photographs may remain in the database unless you specifically request their removal. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply after termination, including Sections 6.1, 7, 11, and 12.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We make no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any content on the Service, including user-submitted aircraft metadata.
Any reliance you place on information obtained through the Service is strictly at your own risk. The Service is intended for hobbyist and educational purposes and should not be relied upon for operational aviation or safety decisions.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Squawk Aviation Photos and its operators, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liability for consequential damages; in such jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where reasonably practicable, provide notice through the Service (such as a banner notification) or by email to the address associated with your account.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may close your account.
